The role



Alternative Airlines is seeking a talented and driven Management Accountant to join our finance team during an exciting period of growth and innovation. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a qualified or part-qualified accountant who thrives in a fast-paced, commercial environment and is passionate about developing future talent. You will work closely with--and provide guidance to--our finance apprentice as they progress toward their ACCA qualification.

As a key member of the finance team, you will be responsible for delivering accurate, timely management information, supporting strategic decision-making, and helping to drive financial performance across the business. You will also play an important mentoring role, supporting the development of the finance apprentice.

The hours of work for this role are Monday- Friday from 09:00 until 17:30 with a one hour lunch break.

Role Responsibilities



Preparing monthly management accounts, including journals, accruals, prepayments, and reconciliations Completing Balance Sheet reconciliations and resolving historic balances Business partnering to understand performance, identify efficiencies, and support commercial decision-making Providing financial insights to budget holders and senior management Supporting the external audit process and preparation of financial statements Assisting with VAT and Corporation Tax returns Monitoring cash flow, preparing rolling forecasts, and supporting cash management strategies Supporting and mentoring our finance apprentice where needed Identifying and implementing opportunities to improve processes, systems, and reporting quality Providing support to other members of the finance team as required

Essential skills and experience



Proven experience in a management accounting or financial analysis role Qualified, part-qualified, or finalist in ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong Excel proficiency, including VLOOKUPs, SUMIFS, pivot tables, and experience with ERP/accounting systems Experience working with high-volume data and strong reconciliation skills High level of accuracy and attention to detail Ability to explain financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines Self-motivated, proactive, and committed to driving efficiency and continuous improvement

Desirable Skills



Experience within the travel industry Practical experience implementing process improvements Strong understanding of multi-currency environments
