AJ Connect is delighted to be partnering with a long-established, employee-owned Scottish business in the fuel and utilities sector to appoint a hands-on Management Accountant to join its growing finance team.
This is a secure, people-first organisation with around 300 staff across Scotland. They have recently acquired another operator and launched a new electricity division, creating the need for an experienced accountant who can bring structure, efficiency and leadership.
The Role
Reporting to the Financial Controller and Head of Finance, you will:
Prepare monthly management accounts to review standard
Oversee a small team of 4-5 covering ledgers, payroll and retail finance
Lead process improvements and drive automation projects
Support integration of new businesses and divisions
Strengthen reporting, controls and month-end efficiency.
You will have plenty of scope to make improvements while working closely with approachable, long-serving colleagues who value common sense, reliability and teamwork.
About You
Confident producing management accounts end to end for an SME
Strong Excel and data reporting skills (XRL or similar)
A practical, grounded leader who is supportive but not afraid to challenge
Comfortable working fully on-site in a collaborative, close-knit team
Qualified or QBE with strong commercial awareness.
