Job Description

Glass Atlas are looking to support the finance team with a 5 month temporary role for a Management Accountant. This is to cover an existing role where the current team member is taking an extended leave time returning in 2026. Note this role does have the opportunity to become a permanent role.

What You'll Be Doing

The following should give you an idea of how you will be spending your time. It is not set in stone and it may change from week-to-week, but it gives an idea of what is expected from the role:

Management Accounts

Each month/quarter you will:

Reconcile the revenue following monthly client lead calls Post accruals and prepayments Reconcile the balance sheet accounts Prepare to trial balance including profit & loss and balance sheet Preparation of the month end management accounts with commentary Reconciliation of quarterly reporting Analyse variances between actual and budgeted figures, identifying key drivers. Review of the quarterly VAT return for submission to HMRC

Commercial Reporting

Working alongside key members of the operations team, you will support the monthly reporting of:

Team utilisation and capacity reports Client and team profitability and recoverability Ad hoc commercial reports

Budgeting & forecasting

Support in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts in collaboration with other finance members and other key members of the team Monitor financial performance against budgets and forecasts, providing timely feedback. Assist in financial planning processes by offering insights into key revenue and cost drivers.

Book-keeping

Raise monthly sales invoices to clients Liaise with client teams to reconcile month end spend and commissions for billing Supporting credit control responsibilities Post monthly FA additions Manage intercompany transactions

Adhoc

Identify opportunities to improve financial systems, processes, and reporting tools. Drive the adoption of best practices in commercial accounting and financial analysis. Continuous monitoring a review of costs to ensure they are still required and to identify any cost savings

Skills and qualifications

Preferred qualification AAT and part qualified (CIMA, ACCA) Previous finance experience in a similar role, specifically management accounts Self-confessed excel lover, very strong skills! A good analytical mind who is keen to get into the detail and look at trends and variances Previous experience of online accounting software (e.g. Xero, Sage) Great communication skills, with the ability to interact with senior management and non-financial teams. High level of organisation and time management and able to work autonomous as well as a team Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams. Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail. Experience in a service business is strongly preferred but not required
