Altrincham FC is seeking a dedicated and experienced Volunteer Management Accountant to provide financial planning, analysis, and reporting support to the club.
This role is ideal for a retired professional management accountant looking to contribute their skills, knowledge, and experience to a community-focused football club. The volunteer will help ensure the club's financial stability, efficiency, and provide crucial insights for strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Management Information: Prepare and present monthly management accounts and financial reports to the Board, focusing on key performance indicators (KPIs) and variance analysis
Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist in the annual budgeting process and provide rolling financial forecasts for various income streams and cost centres to ensure expenditure is in line with budgets
Cost Analysis: Conduct detailed cost analysis of club operations to identify areas for efficiency and cost savings
Process Improvement: Review and recommend improvements to the club's existing financial processes, controls, and reporting systems to enhance accuracy and timeliness
Strategic Support: Provide financial input and analysis to support strategic projects and investment decisions
Cash Flow: Support the preparation and monitoring of the club's cash flow projections
Risk Management: Analysing and managing risk within the business
Candidate Profile (Essential Criteria)
Experience: Significant, demonstrable experience as a Management Accountant or a similar senior financial role in a commercial or not-for-profit setting
Qualifications: Professionally qualified or part-qualified (e.g., CIMA, ACCA, ACA, or equivalent international qualification)
Financial Acumen: Excellent understanding of management accounting principles, financial planning, budgeting, and cost control techniques
Technical Skills: Proficient in using accounting software (e.g., Xero, Sage, QuickBooks) and advanced competency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and financial modelling
Communication: Strong ability to communicate complex financial information clearly and concisely to non-financial stakeholders (e.g., the Board, department heads)
Attitude: A proactive, self-motivated, and organised approach, with a passion for supporting a community football club
Commitment: Reliability and the capacity to dedicate agreed flexible hours to the role
Desirable Criteria
Previous experience working with or volunteering for a sports club, non-profit organisation, or within the football industry
Experience with volunteer management or team leadership
