The Role
We're looking for an experienced
Management Accountant / Bookkeeper
to join our growing team on a
part-time, flexible basis
.
You'll take responsibility for delivering accurate, timely financial information for a portfolio of clients -- supporting them with management accounts, bookkeeping, and reporting.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys both client interaction and getting hands-on with the numbers, and who thrives in a flexible, hybrid working environment.
Key Responsibilities
Weekly/Monthly bookkeeping for a portfolio of clients
Prepare monthly and quarterly
management accounts
for a portfolio of clients.
Maintain accurate
bookkeeping records
using cloud-based systems (primarily
Xero
, Dext, and related apps).
Reconcile bank accounts, control accounts, and manage journals for accruals/prepayments.
Prepare
VAT returns
and support clients with Making Tax Digital compliance.
Assist with
budgeting, cash flow forecasting
, and variance analysis.
Liaise with clients to resolve queries and provide proactive financial insights.
Work closely with the wider Square Accounting team to support year-end processes.
Contribute to the development and improvement of internal systems and client workflows.
About You
Essential skills & experience:
Proven experience in bookkeeping and/or management accounting (ideally within a practice or multi-client environment).
Proficiency with
Xero
(certification desirable) and related cloud accounting tools.
Strong Excel/Google Sheets skills and good attention to detail.
Excellent communication and client relationship skills.
Ability to manage your own workload, meet deadlines, and work independently.
Desirable:
AAT, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent qualification (qualified or part-qualified).
Experience with Dext, Xero Projects, and/or payroll processing.
Interest in automation and cloud accounting technology.
