Rothschild & Co lending activities
Rothschild & Co has three primary lending activities:

  • Private Client Lending (PCL) teams located in London, Guernsey, Zurich and Marseille which work closely together to provide lending services to our Wealth Management clients, including Lombard lending (secured on investment assets) and mortgages (secured on residential property);
  • Real Estate Debt Management (REDM) team based in Wilmslow (Cheshire), who arrange and manage commercial real estate loans with mandates from third party investment firms (e.g. insurance companies, credit funds) and also co-lend in these transactions; and
  • Group Credit team in London, which is responsible for reporting on all the loan books within the Group and the lending to other parts of the group (including funds managed by the Wealth & Asset Management and Five Arrows businesses).
Overview of role
We are seeking to recruit a talented, motivated individual to join the Banking Management team at Associate/Senior Associate level who will work with the Group Head of Banking and the Banking senior management team, including the heads of the PCL teams, the co-heads of the REDM team and the Group Credit team. The role requires close working with the various lending teams and the Group Credit team, across the banks in France, Switzerland and the Channel Islands, to deliver a high quality service (internally and externally).
Key Responsibilities
  • Senior Management Support - ongoing support for the Banking senior management team on facilitation of day-to-day operations and achievement of key priorities;
  • Project Management - assist the Group Head of Banking with some project management responsibilities (defining objectives, setting targets, measuring against milestones, following up on actions, updating senior stakeholders and/or tracking/reporting on progress);
  • Performance Monitoring & Reporting - collate and/or produce regular management reports (including business metrics, performance and risk indicators, data analysis);
  • Consistent Reporting - collaborate with the Group Credit team to ensure the information provided to Group committees/boards is consistent in terms of presentation and messaging;
  • Problem Solving - assist with the documentation of processes and procedures, identify problems and develop solutions, analyse areas for improvement to help optimise efficiency and productivity; and
  • Co-ordination of Activities - work with the Group Head of Banking on management presentations, training and development, town halls, offsite events and other ad-hoc initiatives.
Technical Skills, Competencies and Role Requirements
  • Computer literate (Advanced MS Office inc. Excel and PowerPoint);
  • A flexible mindset to perform varying duties;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to articulate complex issues in a clear and concise manner;
  • Outstanding inter-personal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with key stakeholders;
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, ability to multi-task and maintain exceptional attention to detail even when working under pressure;
  • Proactive and able to drive tasks/projects forward;
  • Strong analytical skills;
  • Inquisitive nature with an ability to provide constructive challenge;
  • Willingness to travel and spend time in locations with lending teams; and
  • Team player with a collaborative approach.
Experience and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree and 5+ years' professional experience in a role that involves business management; and
  • Knowledge of/experience in the banking/financial services industry.
