The Management Consultant (Finance & Corporate Services) provides strategic financial leadership, advice, and operational oversight to ensure the effective management, planning, and reporting of financial activities across the organization. The postholder will lead the design and implementation of robust financial management frameworks, ensuring compliance with corporate governance, transparency, and value-for-money principles. The role also includes leadership of finance personnel or project analysts, ensuring that financial reporting, forecasting, and compliance standards are consistently met throughout the project lifecycle.
Acting as a trusted adviser to senior leadership, this role will evaluate financial performance, identify risks, and develop solutions that support sound business planning and long-term sustainability. The role also involves line management and mentoring of finance staff, fostering a high-performance culture within the Corporate Services team.
Financial Management & Reporting
Oversee the operation and maintenance of financial systems, budgets, and accounting processes in line with organizational policies and financial regulations.
Lead all month-end and year-end activities, ensuring timely and accurate management accounts and statutory reporting.
Ensure financial data integrity, accuracy, and compliance with internal and external audit requirements.
Develop, implement, and maintain financial management and planning systems that support strategic decision-making and business planning.
Budgeting & Forecasting
Coordinate the preparation of annual budgets and long-term financial plans.
Work closely with senior leadership to forecast future financial requirements, providing scenario analyses and recommendations.
Establish effective budgetary control mechanisms to ensure efficient use of resources and timely variance reporting.
Strategic Financial Advice
Provide expert financial and commercial advice to the leadership team.
Support the identification and mitigation of financial risks, advising on the financial implications of strategic and operational decisions.
Commission or brief external financial advisors where necessary to resolve complex issues or enhance financial efficiency.
Performance, Risk & Governance
Monitor and evaluate financial performance to ensure the organization meets its objectives.

Person Specification:
Qualifications & Experience
MSc/MBA or relevant qualification or relevant financial management experience.
Proven record experience of applying financial management and administrative systems in a senior position
Extensive experience in leading the production of budget and financial outputs including full audit and monitoring reports.
Proven experience of building and maintaining relationships at a senior level to influence change.
Hands-on experience with budgeting and risk management.
Excellent knowledge of data analysis and forecasting models.
Excellent IT skills, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Experience of line management and performance management.
