Your role



The Manager Data Center (MDC) is responsible for the management and performance of a data center site(s) and ensures the site(s) function(s) at the optimum performance and reliability; actively managing along the lines of the four pillars of our Operations Strategy: Service Excellence, Infrastructure Excellence, Sustainability and Governance, risk and compliance. The Manager Data Center (MDC) is accountable for all local maintenance, repairs, upgrades and expansion activities and customer services activities within the sites. The Manager Data Center (MDC) monitors all customer services and maintenance activities and provides/coaches the team with instructions.


What you'll do



Health & Safety Oversight:



Ensure adherence to the Quality Management, Environmental and Health & Safety Responsibilities Matrix Accountable for all activities on the sites in terms of Health & Safety and governance compliance, including site induction, supplier permits, and adherence to relevant guidelines (e.g. SOC and ISO). Accountable for ensuring the sites and all assets are in good condition,

Operational Efficiency and Maintenance:



Accountable for operating the site as energy efficient as possible, in coordination and working with other relevant functions. Accountable for the accurate and effective performance of monitoring and management systems Accountable for ensuring the timely, efficient, and high-quality execution of all maintenance and customer service tasks, as per Service Planning process guidelines. These activities encompass a range of tasks such as corrective and preventive maintenance, cross/disconnects, Remote Hands services, handling customer inquiries, and facilitating audits, among others. Accountable for overseeing alarm monitoring and management of all site assets during office hours, with support from ICT to ensure system availability and effectiveness (BMS/DCMS/GCAP). Accountable for the productivity of the team for the sites (utilization) and resource capacity management through a weekly and daily planning/allocation process, also dealing with prioritization

People Management:



Accountable for managing all team members, including training, coaching, fostering development, and encouraging participation in company-wide communities, along with overseeing all other aspects of people management. Manage a site group budget to maintain tidiness, cleanliness, and workability for the team. Accountable for approving capacity requests for power, space, and cooling as requested by the Solution Engineering function, including providing feasibility solutions (CAPEX Feedback) and alternative proposals when necessary. Additionally, responsible for providing input to help Solution Engineering maintain a comprehensive capacity overview to streamline the process of providing information for indicative offers. Responsible for checking and accepting/rejecting all completed installation works from Implementation services and (Infra) Projects function.

Incident Management and Documentation:



Accountable for managing incidents on the sites to prevent disruption, reduce the impact on services, and ensure compliance with SLAs, including an element of problem management to eliminate or reduce the impact of future incidents. Ensure all mandatory site documentation is up to date, including but not limited to SLD's, as-built documents, SOP's, EOP's, MOP's, and BCP's. Accountable for developing and maintaining a Multi-Year Site Plan in coordination with Service Planning / Technical Ops, including major maintenance tasks, asset condition assessments, and replacements or overhauls scheduled at intervals longer than one year. Provide input into planning & budgeting processes within Service Operations, also contributing and providing insights into the Property Ops & Service Planning and the Project function.

What you'll need



5-10 years of experience working in mission-critical mechanical & electrical environments, ideally within IT/Telecom or similar. 3+ years of experience managing a team of direct and indirect reports. Proven experience in technical facilities management and maintenance governance. Familiarity with data center infrastructure and industry standards. Experience in Data Centers or a similar environment is considered a significant advantage though not essential; this will be a key consideration should multiple candidates be assessed for suitability. Experience with maintenance management systems (Excel-based or corporate bespoke). ITIL and/or ServiceNow experience is advantageous. Strong leadership and communication skills. Fluent in English (written and verbal). Commitment & drive; Is committed & high energy, willing to go the extra mile.
