Summary
We are seeking an experienced Group Insurance Manager to manage, monitor and implement appropriate insurance policies across the IHS Group. The role holder will be responsible for ensuring all policies are kept within budget, meet agreed objectives and are kept up to date and current. This is an ideal opportunity for someone with a deep understanding of the insurance industry, seeking to take on lead role within insurance function in a multinational listed company. This role will be part of the Finance team, reporting to the VP, Group Risk, Audit and SOX, and will work closely with senior management across all IHS locations.
KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop, implement and monitor the corporate programme in alignment with the business strategic approach to insurance, risk and related budget.
  • Support the organization in identifying and assessing insurable risks, recommending coverage, analyzing risk profiles, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Negotiate with insurance brokers and insurers, maintaining strong relationships to ensure optimal coverage and service.
  • Manage claims and analyze trends with risk owners, providing regular reports.
  • Provide insurance input on commercial contracts, advise stakeholders, and manage certificate of insurance distribution.
  • Handle administrative duties such as insurance invoice processing.
  • Support risk quantification and impact assessments to guide insurance strategy and decision-making.
  • Assist in the management of insurance project budget.
  • Monitor insurance markets trends and help evolve our insurance strategy in line with business needs.
  • This role will require liaison with suppliers, internal staff and third parties and some travel within Africa may be required.
Qualifications
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
  • Insurance qualification such as CII or similar is essential.
Experience:
  • Extensive experience within a similar role.
  • Experience working within an international role, and dealing with different cultures.

  • Ability to read, interpret and understand complex contracts and legal documents.
  • A strong team-player.
