UK Finance is the collective voice for the banking and finance industry and represents over 300 firms across the industry. Economic Crime devastates lives, damages our economy, and threatens our National Security. The financial services industry does more to protect the public from Economic Crime than any other sector. UK Finance, working with a range of stakeholders and partners leads the collective fight against Economic Crime.
To lead this vitally important function within UK Finance, the executive team and Board would like to appoint a Managing Director for Economic Crime.
The role:

  • Reporting to the CEO, the appointed individual will lead the strategic direction of Economic Crime work, contributing to the Executive Committee and overall organisational leadership.
  • Drive industry-wide efforts to tackle financial crime, including fraud, money laundering, sanctions, and corruption.
  • Represent the sector externally, engaging with government, regulators, law enforcement, and media to advocate for member interests.
  • Foster member relationships, championing collaboration and innovation to deliver impactful, sustainable solutions.
The individual:
  • Extensive experience in Economic Crime, serious organised crime, or National Security, with a proven track record of delivery and influence at senior levels.
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills, capable of building trusted relationships across government, law enforcement, regulators, and industry.
  • Commercial and operational acumen, with the ability to prioritise resources, drive performance, and identify growth opportunities.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, confident in representing UK Finance externally through media, public speaking, and parliamentary engagement.
