About the role





Balfour Beatty Asset & Technology Solutions (ATS) is seeking a Managing Quantity Surveyor (MQS) to join its growing Temporary Site Services (TSS - Temporary M&E) team.



This role is ideal for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor who is ready to take the next step into a lead commercial position, with responsibility for people management, commercial leadership, and strategic input across a fast-growing national portfolio.



Over the last two years, the TSS business has seen significant growth across multiple sectors and flagship UK projects. This role offers genuine career progression, exposure to senior stakeholders, and the opportunity to grow alongside a high-performing ATS team.

What you'll be doing

Key Responsibilities





As Managing Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the commercial leadership of the Temporary Site Services portfolio, including:


Working closely with the Temporary Site Services Business Manager to provide end-to-end commercial support across the TSS operation Producing month-end accounts, forecasting and reporting to the Site Services finance and leadership teams Managing risk, opportunity and debt, ensuring robust commercial controls and accurate annual forecasts Providing contractual and commercial advice to pre-construction and operational teams, including strategy for upcoming works Leading and developing a team of Quantity Surveyors and Commercial Administrators, with a strong focus on mentoring and upskilling Ensuring commercial alignment and cohesion with other ATS and Site Services business areas Leading contractual processes including Early Warning Notices (EWN), Compensation Events (CEs) and final accounts Reporting commercial performance and progress to senior project and business leaders Managing commercial relationships with clients, customers and key stakeholders Evaluating, negotiating and appointing subcontractors and suppliers

This role is suited to a Senior Quantity Surveyor ready to progress or an early-stage MQS with the following attributes:


Strong commercial and contractual knowledge within construction, M&E or infrastructure environments Experience supporting or leading small commercial teams Confident communicator, able to influence at multiple levels Strong business and customer awareness Proactive, resilient and tenacious approach to problem-solving Able to identify and manage commercial risk and opportunity Committed to developing others and promoting ATS and Balfour Beatty values Full UK driving licence (required)
