The Growth Company\xe2\x80\x99s (GC) Business Growth Hub has a vacancy for a Manufacturing Advisor to deliver fully funded specialist business growth advice to a portfolio of business owners and senior managers of manufacturing businesses that are aiming to achieve growth. The role will assess the growth potential of eligible businesses, diagnose any barriers to growth and agree suitable action plans to address these and release growth opportunities.

GC Business Growth Hub is a community of specialists with a passion to help businesses across Greater Manchester (GM) to realise their ambitions. Since 2011, the Hub has supported more than 15,000 businesses including start-ups, scale-ups and established businesses, providing finance guidance, creating international links, and paving the way for innovation and people development across the region. We work with the best of public and private partners, offering expert one-to-one and peer-to-peer business support, events, specialist programmes, funding and much more.

Key Responsibilities:

The Manufacturing Advisor\xe2\x80\x99s primary responsibility is to ensure that the Business Growth Hub\xe2\x80\x99s manufacturing services, are delivered to produce the maximum impact in terms of assisting the client company to reach their full growth potential, and delivery of outputs and outcomes including improved performance, growth, new jobs and new products.

  • Generating a pipeline of manufacturing businesses looking to receive support.
  • Develop and maintain a high-level network of business / professional contacts that generate personal referrals.
  • Handling client enquiries via, phone and email. establishing and maintaining effective relationships and key client contacts.
  • Ensure client enquiries and partner referrals are correctly recorded on GC\xe2\x80\x99s CRM system.
  • The ability to develop and lead a network of manufacturing peer groups.
  • Undertake diagnostics on a business to capture baseline data from clients and to identify growth barriers addressed by developing growth action plans. This will involve the analysis and interpretation of business and market data / intelligence to provide recommendations to senior management teams, boards, and shareholders to include on site diagnostic visits to client\xe2\x80\x99s factories.
  • Deliver workshops and seminars on foundation manufacturing principles.
  • Ensure that the collection of output and impacts data is undertaken throughout the project.
About You:
  • Sales and Account management skills.
  • Strong Presentation skills both written and oral.
  • Manufacturing knowledge (continuous improvement, Lean manufacturing, process improvement, standard work, TPM, waste elimination NPI etc).
  • Have excellent communication and networking skills.
  • Excellent planning, organisational, administrative and project management skills.
  • Well-developed IT skills, including an understanding of computerised management information systems, spreadsheets, diary management, e-mail, and CRM databases.
Requirements:
  • Degree level qualification within a manufacturing/management/business discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Proven track record in managing the wider range of business issues associated with periods of business growth (management marketing and finance).
  • Have technical knowledge in the key areas of manufacturing processes.
  • Understanding and experience of using project management techniques is desirable.
  • Knowledge and understanding of key national, sub-regional and local organisations and their role in supporting economic development and specifically business growth is preferable.
The role requires the candidate to frequently travel around the GM region in person to observe diagnose and a network of manufacturing businesses at client factories.
