Business Growth Hub (BGH) seeks a Manufacturing Advisor to deliver high quality specialist business growth advice to a portfolio of ambitious manufacturing and engineering business owners and senior managers. The role will support these clients to review business models, reduce costs, manage cash flow, boost staff performance, address skills needs, improve quality, optimise supply chains, enter new markets, and win new business - culminating in increased productivity and profitability. Greater Manchester (GM) BGH is a community of specialists helping businesses in GM achieve their ambitions. Since 2011 the Hub has supported over 15,000 businesses, providing financial guidance, international links, and fostering innovation and people development. We collaborate with public and private partners to offer expert business support, events, specialist programmes, and funding.


Key Responsibilities:




Ensure delivery of Manufacturing Services to maximise client growth potential and achieve outputs like improved productivity, GVA growth, and sustainability. Undertake detailed discussions with clients to understand business challenges and recommend actions for growth. Complete diagnostics of businesses to identify needs and opportunities for growth plans. Deliver bespoke growth support and workshops on manufacturing principles. Introduce clients to additional services and monitor their delivery. Monitor impact and outputs, including productivity, innovation, and sustainability. Collect impact and output data throughout projects. Handle client enquiries, assess growth potential, and maintain effective relationships.

About You:




Degree level qualification in manufacturing, management, or business discipline, or equivalent experience. Over 10 years of manufacturing experience in the private sector (candidates with less experience but necessary skills will be considered). Team player and self-starter with a professional approach to managing business assessment and development.

Skills Required:




Manufacturing knowledge (strategy, leadership, KPIs, lean tools, financial management, sales, and marketing). Customer-focused approach to foster engagement and commitment to economic development. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Ability to identify opportunities and be innovative. Excellent communication, networking, client acquisition, and account management skills. Project management, planning, organisational, and administrative skills. Well-developed IT skills, including CRM systems and spreadsheets. Presentation skills, both written and oral.

The role requires the candidate to frequently travel to factories around the Greater Manchester region in person delivering one-to-one support, building a close working relationship with the client to understand their needs and deliver a detailed improvement growth plan.
