Manufacturing Engineers (Dangerous Goods Packaging) - (Office based)

Salary: \xc2\xa335,720 - \xc2\xa348,000 (subject to skills and experience) + Allowance

We design and manufacture a wide range of products, materials and tools to support our mission. Our operations include precision component manufacture, fabrication, explosive formulation, fissile material production, rubbers and plastics, and warhead assembly and disassembly.

Due to the complexities of our products and regulatory demands, we are seeking applicants who are looking for a career in design, development and certification of dangerous goods packaging. The ideal candidate will have experience of a Manufacturing or Production Engineering environment with an understanding of legislative framework for transport of dangerous goods. Project management (MRP & ERP) experience is desirable but not essential as professional development and support will be provided.

Ideally candidates will have previous experience within some of the following:
  • An understanding of manufacturing techniques and processes which may include machining, presswork, moulding and metallurgy
  • Knowledge of design principles including requirements capture and stakeholder management.
  • An understanding of dangerous goods regulations required for transport and storage of hazardous materials is desirable
  • Knowledge of modern materials and their properties
  • Knowledge of component design, configuration control and manufacturing techniques
  • Knowledge of dangerous goods packaging
  • An understanding and application of UK Health and Safety Legislation in a Manufacturing or Production environment
  • Experience of applying Lean Manufacturing Techniques, Continuous Improvement and Quality Tools
  • An ability to produce or assist in the production of Technical Product Specifications (designs, drawings, reports, safety justifications, instructions, etc.)
Whilst not considered a check list, we will be looking for candidates to demonstrate knowledge or skills of some of the following:
  • Design and manage packaging equipment, documentation and manufacturing specifications
  • Manage and support all technical aspects of new processes and/or equipment within designated area of responsibility
  • Maintain packaging certification to ensure dangerous goods can be moved safely and in accordance with extant legislation
  • Deliver manufacturing processes/equipment to agreed objectives and milestones
  • Establish and record customer and process requirements in accordance with the appropriate procedures and legislation.
  • Identification of all legislation and regulatory requirements associated with new and existing processes to ensure compliance
  • Communicate project programme status with key stakeholders, project teams and management, ensuring safety, security and quality are maintained
  • Works effectively with others and building required relationships and interfaces to support delivery of the Programme.
  • Adopt a \xe2\x80\x98See It, Own It, Solve It\xe2\x80\x99 mind-set, by identifying obstacles to success and taking ownership to find solutions to those problems
  • Responsible for undertaking other duties as reasonably required from time to time by line and task management, including work at other places within the UK or overseas; this will be done in consultation with you, and in accordance with any requirements contained in your Contract of Employment.
Candidates must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for the role and be willing and able to work in designated areas.
