MIXROOM OPERATIVE AND SEPARATOR

Langage Farm are looking to employ a Mixroom operative and separator to join the team at our family-run and operated creamery near Plymouth. This role involved working within our low risk area.

You will be reporting to the Mix and separation line leader and your primary task is the production of the bulk mixes that will be packed in other areas of the factory and separation of the raw milk into cream and skimmed milk. You will also have to ensure a safe and hygienic working environment.

Shifts average 8 hours, 40 hours a week. There are 3 shifts, 07.00-15.30, 10.00-18.30, 14.00-22.30. These shifts are on a rolling rota split between 4 members of the team. The shift rota involves working every other Sunday with the Friday before off.

When you join your rate will be 13.25 per hour. Your training will begin with you learning the area and doing an introduction to food hygiene, you will then learn the mixing process and what to do to produce our wonderful products. You will then progress through pay rates incrementally before reaching a final pay rate for 15.00 per hour. You will expect to be on this pay rate between 6 and 12 months after joining depending on your aptitude.

As a company we will continue to develop you with qualifications in HACCP, Food Safety and Health and Safety.

The successful candidate will be a team player, a hard worker and be willing to learn a new skill. Ideally they would have a level 2 food hygiene already but this is not essential.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Produce bulk mixes of yoghurt and icecream to a provided recipe.

Send and set bulk mixes.

Maintain excellent hygiene standards within the work area.

Have a high standard of personal hygiene.

Clean bulk tanks and sending machinery.

Separate cream from raw milk

Pasteurising Milk

Standardising cream to the correct fat percentages.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

Ability to perform tasks and follow instruction closely.

Strong work ethic.

Food hygiene experience

Physically fit.

Ability to work well alone regularly as part of the wider Langage team.

Good numeracy and literacy skills.
