Summary
This job is responsible for building lasers to agreed specification following QC and ISO procedures, and leading a team to build products onsite in our Stockport facility.

Primary ResponsibilitiesManual build of lasers including optical alignment, basic electronics and assessing reworks. Overseeing day to day manufacturing operations and managing employees within the production area to ensure effective performance to the meet required production, rework and service targets. Reporting on the performance of product/cell to Laser Manufacturing Manager. Responsible for working with the Laser Manufacturing Manager to develop training plans and mentoring of new Laser Manufacturing Technicians. To be the technical expert for the Product line. Maintaining quality standards and high levels of performance whilst ensuring that internal procedures are adhered to. To deputise for Laser Manufacturing Manager in their absence. Supporting the Laser Manufacturing Manager in team member appraisals and development activities. To assume any responsibilities included in the Laser Manufacturing Technician job description for product line.


General TasksStrict compliance with the quality, occupational safety and environmental regulations. Implementation of the instructions of the quality / environmental management representative and the occupational safety specialist.


Required Experience, Education, Skills, Training and CompetenciesBachelor's Degree in science or engineering is desired but not essential. Previous experience within a similar role. Previous high tech industry experience. Understanding of manufacturing processes and procedures. Strong attention to detail. Excellent manual dexterity and hand-to-eye coordination. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Electronics skills. Good organisational skills. Strong problem-solving skills. Can demonstrate initiative and ability to "think on feet".
