You will be required to support teams to fulfil operational targets by delivering the responsibilities detailed below:

Responsibilities specific to the role

This includes, but is not limited to: Development and adherence to "Operating Rules" focused on effective utilisation of capacity, WIP control and process lead times, in order to deliver the Manufacturing Plan; Effective application of the "EHS Model" to create a safe, healthy and environmentally compliant place of work, and a culture which promotes adherence to these principles.
Whilst not applicable in all cases, it is within the scope of this role to be nominated as a single accountable person for a particular EHS subject, and the duties associated with this could extend into other Production areas or even extend to site-wide duties. Process compliance audits to identify, contain and correct potential Quality issues; Identifying actual or potential problems (variations to the required target or standard) and taking the necessary actions to contain, solve or escalate these problems within an appropriate timescale by engaging others in the manufacturing and functional teams; Engaging with employees to develop competence and involve them in sustaining standards and improving performance every day. Using the output of the Walk the Floor routines to contribute to the Daily Operations Meeting to report on performance against the agreed metrics under EHS, Quality, Cost, Delivery and People, and to identify problems for resolution by the manufacturing and functional teams; Monitoring the resolution of identified problems in their area, accepting an effective solution, and ensuring that the new standards determined by this solution are maintained, and where necessary, built into the Walk the Floor routines; Engaging with the employees in their area, the supporting functional staff and the hierarchy to achieve the above points. Amongst other ways to engage with employees, completing regular one-to-one reviews as part of performance management, conducting Walk the Floor routines, shift hand-overs, daily start-of-shift briefings and participating in the Daily Operations Meeting are of key importance.

General responsibilities

Create awareness of the (cascaded) objectives of the business, and the Manufacturing Plan, together with the current performance against these objectives and plans, and take accountability for delivering the objectives specifically assigned to the area of responsibility. Create and participate in "Lean Events" to improve any aspect of performance associated with their area. Lead the Continuous Improvement plan for their operation: agree a plan with the hierarchy, and implement a "Production System" model and all of its constituent parts (based on principles of Zero Defects, Standard Work and Optimised Resource, supported by Competent and Engaged Employees) within a "Visual Factory" environment. Develop employees to ensure they are trained to carry out the job(s) assigned to them, and to positively contribute to the performance and agreed standards of the area and in line with corporate values. Build a Personal Development Plan to improve their own personal performance and effectiveness in this role. Enacting HR policies and procedures to ensure consistent and effective people management.
