Role:
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our team at Wescom Defence. The purpose of this role is to provide the leadership and management of the manufacturing, packing and stores operatives. Including the delivery of the manufacturing schedule, maintaining accurate stock levels, control of inert parts, and the packing of products in accordance with company requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
A strong level of communication at all levels within Wescom Defence.
To coach, mentor and display a lead by example approach.
In conjunction with the master production schedule, monitor daily production and packing targets to ensure on track, any deviation recovery plans to be considered with the Manufacturing Supervisor.
To set up production lines, ensuring all documents and parts are in place, start up audits completed in the pre-production weeks.

Complete on the job training of the manufacturing operators as required.
To maintain a high levels of 5'S in all manufacturing buildings, containers, magazines and packing.
Ensure all stock in magazines are correctly identified and stored.
Manage and control, materials, sub-assemblies and finished goods to maintain building licence requirements.
Perform daily checks in areas of responsibility to ensure process adherence, all documentation is present, correct and in date.
To ensure room board compliance.
To return all parts to stores and update D365 on completion of product builds.
Provide cover for other manufacturing team leaders during periods of sickness or holidays.
Ensure compliance with Health and Safety at Work Legislation.
Raise near misses where applicable.
To follow company discipline, grievance and process procedures.
Proactively manage absence within the team, liaising with HR to include back to work interviews.
Carry out appraisal process with all operatives on a 6 monthly basis.
Assist with business development projects as and when required.
Support in the updating of Process Instructions.
To prepare, issue and control product marking / box marking / pallet marking details and relevant documentation for each sales order in line with contract specific requirements.
Qualifications:
Essential:
Computer literate eg, Microsoft applications, Word & Excel.
Ability to communicate at all levels.
Leadership (command skills) and team building.
Ability to problem solve.
Sound work ethic.
Company minded.
Minimum of 5 GCSE's (A-C) or equivalent.
Desirable:
ERP experience.
Lean Manufacturing experience.
Six Sigma.
Previous Pyrotechnics & Explosives, Chemicals, Light Engineering, automotive experience.
IOSH Certificate.
Proven track record of team leader / supervisor in a medium / high volume manufacturing environment.
