Manufacturing Team Leader - Raw Creation Site
Reports to: Production Manager
Working Pattern: Standard working hours (no shift pattern at present)
Role Purpose
The Manufacturing Team Leader is responsible for leading and motivating a shop-floor team within
the raw creation area of the food manufacturing operation. This is a hands-on role focused on
Driving manufacturing performance, improving key figures on the shop floor, and ensuring
standards are met consistently.
Shop Floor Performance & Figures
- Drive daily manufacturing performance against key KPIs including output, efficiency, yield, waste,
labour, downtime, and quality.
- Actively manage performance on the shop floor, identifying issues quickly and taking corrective
action.
- Ensure production plans are delivered safely, efficiently, and to required standards.
- Monitor live performance data and take ownership of results within the area.
Team Leadership & People Management
- Lead, motivate, and engage a team of manufacturing operatives.
- Set clear expectations and hold the team accountable for performance, behaviours, and
standards.
- Manage day-to-day people matters including attendance, performance conversations, and initial
disciplinary processes.
- Coach and develop team members to improve capability and flexibility.
Food Safety, Quality & Compliance
- Ensure full compliance with food safety, quality, hygiene, and health & safety standards.
- Maintain high GMP standards and address non-conformances promptly.
- Ensure all production and quality records are completed accurately.
- Act as a role model for food safety and compliance.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify and support continuous improvement opportunities within the manufacturing area.
- Encourage team involvement in problem-solving and improvement activity.
- Work closely with the Production Manager to resolve operational issues and improve
performance.
Experience & Skills Required
Essential:
- Previous experience as a Team Leader or Supervisor in a food manufacturing environment.
- Proven ability to drive manufacturing figures and shop-floor performance.
- Strong people management and leadership skills.
- Good understanding of food safety, GMP, and health & safety standards.
Desirable:
- Experience in raw material preparation or similar manufacturing operations.
- Exposure to continuous improvement or lean manufacturing principles.
- Relevant food safety or health & safety qualifications.
