FermionX Ltd is a successful Electronics Manufacturing company based in Worthing, West Sussex, seeking to appoint a full time Manufacturing Team Leader. Job Purpose:
The Manufacturing Team Leader is responsible for the day-to-day supervision and performance of PCB assembly processes and people. Reporting to the Manufacturing Manager, this role is critical in ensuring that products are built in a safe manner to the very highest quality standards and completed on time.
As a hands-on leader, you will ensure that quality is embedded in every step of the process and work to build a high-performing team culture that aligns with our continuous improvement ethos. This role supports our reputation for excellence across diverse sectors including medical, defence, and aviation.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & Development
Lead and support the team to achieve daily output and quality targets.
Allocate tasks, monitor progress, and ensure work is prioritised effectively.
Mentor, coach, and upskill team members, ensuring training is delivered and development needs are addressed.
Promote a positive, accountable, and quality-driven culture in line with our values.
Operational Execution
Ensure work orders are executed to schedule and conform to IPC JSTD-001 and IPC-A-610 standards.
Preventative maintenance is carried out as required and to a high standard.
Maintain production area readiness, including daily setup, shutdown, and line clearance procedures.
Maximise our productivity through proactive scheduling, changeover efficiency, and a first time-right focus.
Quality & Continuous Improvement
Ensure product quality is consistently maintained and improved.
Collaborate with Quality and Engineering teams to resolve issues, improve yields, and support investigations.
Lead by example in upholding ESD protocols, cleanliness, and EPA controls.
Identify and implement process improvements (e.g. splicing methods, feeder management, setup reduction).
Planning & Coordination
Work closely with the Production Controller and Manufacturing Manager to coordinate resources aligned with the production plan.
Support handovers with accurate updates and documentation.
Track line performance and report on key production and quality metrics.
Compliance & Health and Safety
Ensure team compliance with all Health & Safety requirements and risk assessments.
Conduct and reinforce regular safety checks including ESD compliance.
Participate in audit readiness and environmental management initiatives as needed.
Qualifications & Experience:
Proven experience in an electronics manufacturing environment.
Very familiar with both SMT and Conventional processes.
IPC-A-610 & J-STD-001 certified is a distinct advantage.
Component identification and basic fault-finding knowledge.
Demonstrated experience in team supervision or line leadership.
Comfortable using ERP/MRP and basic production systems.
Desirable:
Experience in high-mix, low-to-medium volume production.
Exposure to Lean manufacturing, 5S, Standard Work, Kaizen, Gemba, RCCA and other such continuous improvement tools.
