We're looking for a Manufacturing Technical Author, based at our Lomondgate site in Dumbarton. Your key objective will be to translate complex manufacturing and engineering concepts into clear, concise documentation that supports operational excellence and safety.

What you'll do:
  • Develop, maintain, and update technical documentation related to manufacturing processes, equipment operation, maintenance procedures, and safety protocols
  • Gather detailed work instruction steps and images through direct observation on the shop floor
  • Collaborate with engineers, process experts, and production staff to gather accurate technical information
  • Translate complex technical data, schematics, and process flows into user-friendly manuals, SOPs, and training materials
  • Ensure documentation complies with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company quality policies
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives by documenting best practices and lessons learned
  • Support manufacturing teams by providing clear, accessible technical content that enhances operational efficiency and safety
  • Review and validate technical content for accuracy and completeness
  • Assist in the creation of visual aids such as diagrams, flowcharts, and schematics
You'll have the following skills and experience:
  • Strong technical background in mechanical, electrical, industrial engineering, or a related field
  • Ability to translate complex technical data into clear, user-friendly content
  • Familiarity with quality management systems (e.g., ISO standards)
  • Experience with document management systems and basic technical illustration or graphic design tools
  • Keen interest in emerging technologies and their use in supporting creation and maintenance of documentation
  • Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills
