Purpose of the role



We are a Cambridgeshire based small company at the growing stages of commercialisation, so you will have the opportunity to directly help influence the success of the business and to see innovative new products into the market.

You will be required to perform a range of manufacturing / production operations to the required quality standard, on time and within commercial cost targets (i.e. goods-in inspection, stock control, preparation, mechanical assembly, electrical assembly, product testing, documentation and fault diagnosis) while working collaboratively with engineers from the development team.

This role requires dynamic team players with a proven skills, knowledge and experience of mechanical assembly and electrical installation. The role requires operating to high quality / workmanship standards, within a manufacturing production environment.

Principle responsibilities



To assemble major and minor mechanical assemblies.

To build and test electrical sub-assemblies and cable assemblies.

To read engineering drawings and assemble products to quality requirements.

To perform soldering to IPC standards.

To carry out product testing for performance, safety, and compliance in accordance with Acceptance Test Procedure.

To analyse test data and generate test reports.

To fault find and repair products to customer and company requirements.

Conduct root cause investigations, providing analysis and recommendations.

Responsible for ensuring that all test equipment is properly maintained and within calibration schedules.

To promote and support continuous improvements and assist with other process improvements.

To promote best practices to ensure ease of manufacture and testability.

To ensure that processes are adhered to as prescribed within the Company Quality Management System.

To help create and maintain a safe working environment and observe Health and Safety procedures.

Responsible for ensuring a high standard of housekeeping is maintained.

To support and promote good working relationships with other team members and departments.

To carry out duties in a proper and efficient manner, act wholeheartedly in the interest of the Company and comply with Company rules and regulations.

To carry out any other tasks where reasonable and relevant when required.

Essential requirements



Relevant NVQ / BTEC qualification, and at least 5 GCSEs at grade C / 4 or above

Experience of working within an electronic or mechanical assembly environment.

Know how to prepare, strip, wire and terminate cable ends, SOLDER and CRIMP to a high standard and understand the differences between a good and bad solder joint and crimp termination.

Build Cables from a drawing or sample, read and understand wiring diagrams and schedules, and follow written procedures.

Good written English and a proficient user of Microsoft Office suite tools, including Excel spreadsheets

Ability to work independently whilst collaborating in a team environment.

Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines.

Desirable requirements



Experience with electronic test equipment (bench power supplies, multimeters, continuity testers, etc.).

Knowledge of various cable termination methods and components and any other electronic experience would be a significant advantage.

Holiday/Breaks: Successful applicants will be entitled to 22 "working days" holidays plus all public holidays. 30-minute paid lunch break and two 10-minute tea breaks. "Tea & Coffee is provided free of charge".

Sickness: The employers will provide statutory Sick Pay (S.S.P.) at the appropriate rate. This will only be paid on days you would typically work.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent, Temporary

Pay: 21,367.50-38,556.17 per year

Expected hours: 20 - 35 per week
