Main Purpose of the Job

This position is responsible for ensuring that all product test activities within our busy operations facility are conducted accurately, safely, and efficiently, across the load bank product range.

This will require the Test Engineer to communicate effectively with the Production team to ensure issues raised by the Test team are accurately recorded, reported, and resolved in order that customer delivery deadlines are met, wherever possible.



Key Responsibilities

Essential Functions working with the Test Leader & Quality Manager to deliver:



Day-today execution of test activities to meet customer delivery schedules across the UK business. Effective liaison with key stakeholders, such as Production, Sales, Despatch, Engineering, Quality and Customer Services. Compliance to test process requirements, including statutory regulations. In conjunction with Sales & Engineering, support the on-site factory witness tests carried out by customers/customer appointed 3rd parties. Support training delivery and verification to personnel performing test activities, in conjunction with the site Authorised Person/ Test Leader. Accurate and timely reporting of quality and safety issues, and other issues likely to affect product delivery. Promotion of safe working practices within the test function. Live working permit authority (in conjunction with the site Authorised Person). Proactively, identify improvement opportunities and support root cause and corrective actions activities across the product range, including supporting build and test personnel in improvement activities. Mutually beneficial co-operation with functional teams including Production, Manufacturing Engineering, Design Engineering, Cust Services, Sales. Provision of Test function input into the New Product Introduction (NPI) process. Actively support the business with a right first-time culture.

Qualifications

HNC in an engineering discipline or equivalent. 3 years minimum experience in an electrical testing role, ideally within a manufacturing environment. Previous leadership experience is desirable.

Proven Skills

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal at all levels of the organisation. Has a positive and co-operative approach with work colleagues. Knowledge and understanding of electrical test processes and test documentation. Strong fault-finding skills. Ability to accurately interpret design drawings, test procures and work instructions. An awareness of fault reporting processes and root cause & corrective actions processes (RCCA). Strong emphasis on accuracy and detail. Computer Literate - Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint. Good time management, with the ability to work independently and with functional teams.
