An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Marine Claims Handler to join our small team which is based near to Bromley South station, Kent. You may occasionally be expected to attend meetings in London and elsewhere.As an underwriting agency, underwriting on behalf of both Lloyd's and Companies Market security, the role will involve handling cargo, marine liability and marine property claims together with their associated administration. Our portfolio of clients is international and thus an excellent command of the English language is essential, having additional languages may be useful. You will ideally come from a claims background, having handled marine claims but if you are looking for a career move into this sector and have commensurate shipping/ logistics/ marine surveying experience, this would be looked upon favourably.Key duties and responsibilities

  • Recording, monitoring and reporting all claims
  • Keeping all files perfectly organised electronically
  • Reviewing claims documentation and assessing same in light of the policy coverage afforded
  • Preparing statistical reports on a per client and per portfolio basis, analysing trends and providing feedback to the Underwriting team
  • Liaising with key stakeholders and regulators
  • Overseeing receipt and release documentation, pursuing recovery action where available
Skills and Experience Specification
  • Educated to A Level standard or equivalent a minimum
  • Highly motivated, always looking to make improvements and never wanting to plateau
  • Ability to organise workload and time manage and happy to work to deadlines
  • Strong Microsoft skills including Excel (intermediate level)
  • Excellent written and verbal skills, must be able to communicate clearly and transparently. The Claims function is a key customer service role and therefore good interpersonal skills are paramount - equally to external clients, suppliers and colleagues
  • Able to respond swiftly but carefully to all correspondence
  • Acute attention to detail including being able to monitor data entry to ensure any errors are identified promptly
  • Able to take initiative to solve training requirements
  • Have a "roll up sleeves" attitude
  • Maritime Studies/ Law an asset
  • Minimum two years relevant experience required
