MCA (Maritime and Coastguard Agency) and Class regulations
. The ideal candidate will have experience working in the marine industry, possess strong technical skills, and ensure that all electrical installations meet the required safety and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, control panels, lighting, and navigation systems on sea going vessels.
Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings.
Ensure all installations comply with
MCA and Class regulations
, as well as industry safety standards.
Conduct electrical testing and troubleshooting to identify faults and ensure system integrity.
Fit and wire switchboards, distribution panels, and electrical control systems.
Work with engineers, shipbuilders, and other trades to coordinate electrical installations with the overall boat construction process.
Install and commission electrical equipment such as motors, generators, inverters, batteries, and shore power systems.
Follow strict health and safety procedures, ensuring compliance with maritime and industry standards.
Document work completed, maintain accurate records, and report any issues to supervisors or project managers.
Requirements:
Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and technical specifications.
Skilled in troubleshooting and fault-finding electrical systems.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced shipyard environment.
Relevant electrical qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds 2391, 18th Edition Wiring Regulations) are preferred.
