Are you looking for a hands-on role in the marine industry? Associated British Ports is looking for a reliable and safety-conscious Marine Operative to join our team at Hull.


About the Role:

As a Marine Operative, you will play a vital part in ensuring the safe movement of shipping throughout the port's locks and during berthing and unberthing operations. You will be responsible for the control and operation of lock gates at Alexandra and Albert docks, and operating the link span at RT1, as well as supporting pilot boarding and landing activities.


Key Responsibilities:




Physically monitor shipping movements within the port to ensure the safety of marine operations and report any damage to infrastructure. Advise external boatage staff on berthing and mooring. Operate lock gates and link spans within the P&O terminal. Assist pilot boarding and landing at Albert Dock riverside quay. Conduct regular inspections and remove debris from lock pit areas and walkways. Carry out general light duties, including cleaning and painting, as directed. Grit lock sides and bridge walkways during adverse weather. Undertake dock patrols using works transport.

What We're Looking For:




Ability to work shifts to support 24/7 port operations. Full UK driving licence (essential for dock patrols and transport duties). Marine knowledge or experience (such as marine induction, PPE and life jacket checks, or operation of lock gates). Willingness to undertake further training for career progression.
