Job Description

Following Marine Chandlery's recent acquisition of Powerhouse Marine and the continued growth of our mechanical servicing department, we are looking for an experienced Marine Technician to join our skilled team in North Shields.

This is a great opportunity to be part of a well-established and expanding business, working on a wide range of marine engines and equipment in a busy, customer-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering Work on Boats:

Perform a range of engineering tasks on both leisure and commercial boats, including routine servicing, diagnostics of technical issues and conducting necessary repairs to ensure optimal performance and safety.

Servicing of Trailers and Safety Equipment:

Conduct regular maintenance and servicing of trailers, lifejackets and other critical safety equipment, ensuring they meet all regulatory standards and are in proper working condition.

Service Centre Diary Management:

Assisting the General Manager to efficiently manage the service centre dairy including scheduling appointments and tasks to maximise productivity and ensure timely completion of all projects.

Job Documentation:

Working with the General Manager to ensure there is accurate recording and logging of all job documentation, maintaining detailed records of services performed, parts used and any other relevant information for future reference and customer transparency.

Coordination of Goods:

Organise and oversee the collection, delivery and transport of goods related to projects, ensuring seamless logistics and minimising delays.

Video Logs Creation:

Produce detailed video logs of work completed, providing clear documentation for internal use and customer service.

Upselling Goods & Services:

Identify opportunities to upsell additional goods and services to customers, explaining the benefits and value to enhance customer satisfaction and company revenue.

Customer Interaction:

Deliver exceptional customer service by regularly interacting with customers in our retail chandlery, addressing their needs, answering queries and providing product advice.

Promotional Events Participation:

Actively participate in promotional events, representing the company and engaging with potential customers to drive interest and sales.

Sourcing Parts:

Efficiently source parts for customer repairs and projects, obtaining timely quotations and tracking parts to ensure availability and prompt service completion.

Product Familiarisation:

Continuously familiarise yourself with our extensive range of products to offer informed advice and support across the business, enhancing the overall customer experience.

Employee Training:

Share knowledge and expertise with fellow employees, conducting training sessions to improve team skills and service quality.

Community Relationships:

Build and maintain strong relationships with the local marine community, identifying and developing new business opportunities to drive sales growth.

Health & Safety Compliance:

Maintain comprehensive health and safety records, ensuring all activities comply with safety standards. Conduct method statements and risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential hazards.

Reporting Health & Safety Issues:

Promptly report any health and safety concerns to colleagues and senior team members to address issues swiftly and maintain a safe working environment.

Marketing Material Creation:

Working with the E-Commerce & Marketing Manager to assist with the creation of marketing materials, contributing ideas and content to effectively promote our products and services.

Social Media Content:

Helping to capture engaging content for social media platforms showcasing our work and products to attract and inform a wider audience.
