JOB TITLE: MARINE TEAM LEAD.




KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:




The Marine Engineering Team Lead is responsible for overseeing the technical execution and delivery of marine engineering projects, ensuring systems are designed, integrated, and maintained to the highest standards of safety, performance, and regulatory compliance. This role provides leadership to a team of engineers, fosters cross-disciplinary collaboration, and drives innovation in marine system design and operations. The Team Lead plays a critical role in aligning engineering efforts with project goals, operational requirements, and long-term strategic objectives. Take personal responsibility and 'Live' our Petrofac Values, applying them in day-to-day work. Lead, manage and be responsible for a team of Marine Engineers, Senior Engineers and Graduate Engineers including goal setting and performance management. Drive discipline engineers to ensure project delivery of high technical quality. Lead and mentor a team of marine engineers, ensuring high standards of technical delivery and professional development. Plan, budget and coordinate resources, contribute to the development of plans, schedules and estimates for the individual work scopes. Preparation of CTR's as required. Where appropriate, engage with and support external consultants & contractors to carry out specialist works, to ensure delivery of high-quality support in all relevant areas. Oversee the design, analysis, and implementation of marine engineering systems including propulsion, structural components, piping, and auxiliary systems. Manage engineering activities across the full project lifecycle--from concept design to commissioning and operational support. Ensure compliance with international maritime regulations, classification society rules, and internal quality standards. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including naval architecture and project management. Conduct technical reviews, risk assessments, and root cause analyses for engineering issues. Support procurement and vendor selection processes with technical evaluations and specifications. Drive innovation and continuous improvement in engineering practices and system performance. Develop and implement engineering standards and best practices to ensure consistency, efficiency, and quality across all marine engineering activities. Coordinate with shipyards, contractors, and external stakeholders during new builds, retrofits, and major maintenance projects to ensure technical alignment and timely delivery. Monitor and report on project progress, budgets, and resource allocation, identifying risks and implementing mitigation strategies as needed. Lead technical investigations and failure analyses, providing detailed reports and recommendations to improve system reliability and prevent recurrence. Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends, evaluating their applicability to enhance system performance, sustainability, and operational efficiency.


ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:




Educated to degree level or equivalent standard in Marine related discipline. Chartered or working towards Chartered Engineer status preferred. Working knowledge of marine systems within Oil & Gas industry, specifically in relation to semi-submersible platforms and FPSO's. Working knowledge of offshore legislation and vessel certification. Strong safety ethic. Working knowledge of CMMS (Maximo) systems. Excellent communication skills. Ability to prioritise workload and work to deadlines. Good at networking and building working relationships. Ability to interpret and follow processes and procedures. Good organisation skills to support work in a fast-paced role.
