What you will do as an Engineer

As an Engineer you will get the chance to work on global projects in the port sector, both nationally and internationally. With your specific expertise, you will work together with other experts in our global, multidisciplinary engineering teams on our diverse port projects. From business cases and planning stage to concept and detailed design phase. Sometimes with colleagues from other departments and sometimes from other countries.

The role will require you to use your technical training and practical experience to contribute to the development of engineering design solutions for maritime civil engineering structures and elements in steel, concrete and other materials to relevant design codes. You will have engineering input in all project stages from inception, through design and construction, to demolition, recycling and reuse.

  • Prepare designs and analysis for port and associated structures, from initial concepts through to detailed designs.
  • Collect and collate design data.
  • Carry out inspections and surveys.
  • Produce design calculations, check and review calculations produced by others.
  • Produce outline models, drawings and details for CAD and REVIT modellers, check and review these prior to issue.
  • Prepare Bills of Quantities, Contract Documents and Specifications.
  • Prepare reports and presentations.
  • Undertake structural analyses and reporting.
  • Provide engineering judgement and advice; contribute to preparation of study reports.
  • Provide guidance to more junior staff including project managers, engineers, graduates, technicians and admin staff working on your projects.
  • Manage and direct more junior staff in technical matters.
  • Autonomy and responsibility to work on the projects you find interesting.
  • Produce proposals and work directly with our Clients.

  • Professional experience in the design of ports / heavy civils projects.
  • Experience in reinforced concrete design and finite element analysis.
  • Retaining wall and piling design experience.
