To further expand our presence in the UK and Ireland Infrastructure and transportation markets, we are looking for a Market Director to join us. Working with our Senior Market Director, you'll oversee the expansion of our client and contractor portfolio across infrastructure including bridges and structures, ground engineering, civil/underground engineering, highways, marine and rail.
Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Growing business development activities in the sectors we operate in for clients located across the UK and Ireland to meet growth targets.
  • Building and maintaining an effective network with clients and partners located in the UK and Ireland. Working closely with contractor partners to develop design and build opportunities.
  • Early establishment of opportunities leading to increase in pipeline and success rate.
  • The continuous updating of the UK Pipeline for specific focus areas and implementing the Go / No Go process.
  • Delivering the capture and bid processes for both major and regional project opportunities, while working closely with technical staff and the Bid Support Team.
  • Developing and delivering Bid-Winning strategies including Commercial offering in conjunction with the Executing Unit leads
  • Delivery of high-quality proposals
  • Maintaining customer focus and continuity through delivery. Key account manager for selected key accounts including frameworks. Undertaking framework management responsibilities.
  • Participating as part of COWI UK's market leadership team
  • Contributing to the development and implementation of strategies and actions plans to support business growth in the specific focus areas.
  • Contributing to identifying technical development areas and for conveying this to line management.
  • Maintaining close liaison with the Executing Unity leads across the UK business and COWI Group sharing market and customer knowledge.

On top of that, you'll have:
  • Previously worked as an engineer or as a chartered engineer within an engineering consultancy, contractor or client
  • Experience of business development within an engineering sector
  • Previously developed and implemented business development strategies that ensure revenue and growth.
  • A good technical background in one of the sectors that we work in, combined with effective leadership in work -winning.
  • An established network of contacts relevant to the growth of the COWI in the UK and Ireland, including clients, contractors and partner organisations.
  • Comprehensive Grasp of legal, contractual, and financial issues in the sector
  • Significant client and partner trust-based relationship building skills.
  • Prior experience developing major proposals and market initiatives within the consulting or engineering industry.
