Job Summary



The Marketing and Communications Coordinator will join on a full-time basis for one year on a maternity cover contract.

As a Marketing and Communications Coordinator, you will deliver work across a wide array of channels and platforms, you'll generate content and develop new campaigns. You will strive to attract new audiences while retaining the current audience. This is a standalone role that requires initiative, creativity, and confidence in managing priorities independently.

Key Objectives



Strengthen STEP's profile, engagement, and visibility across digital and offline channels.

Drive property, event, and service sales through effective marketing campaigns.

Maintain a consistent and professional brand identity across all STEP materials and platforms.

Deliver creative, data-informed marketing that supports organisational goals.

Main responsibilities:



Branding and Creative Design



Produce high-quality marketing materials including leaflets, brochures, signage and event collateral.

Design digital assets such as social graphics, adverts, email banners, and presentation templates.

Support the rollout of STEP's visual identity across all locations and platforms.

Maintain brand guidelines and ensure consistency in tone, colour, and presentation.

Content Creation and Social Media Management



Create engaging written, visual, and video content to showcase STEP's services, tenants, and impact.

Manage social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, Eventbrite) and Google Business profiles for STEP and Corner30 channels.

Plan, schedule, and analyse posts to improve engagement and reach.

Support the promotion of STEP sub-brands including STEP HR, Property, Business Support and Corner30.

Monitor community engagement and respond to comments or messages in a timely, professional way.

Manage Facebook and Linkedin Groups, encouraging engagement, approving posts and responding to comments or messages in a timely, professional way.

E-Communications



Manage STEP's Mailchimp account and deliver regular newsletters and campaign updates.

Support event follow-up and survey distribution using email automation.

Track performance through open and click-through rates to inform continuous improvement.

Support customer service and other surveys in each business area.

PR and Publications



Draft and distribute press releases, case studies, and news stories.

Liaise with media contacts and partners to secure coverage.

Contribute content to TALK magazine and Central Business News.

Design and produce TALK magazine, including selling advertising space and requesting local business news.

Support photography, filming, and content gathering at STEP events.

Websites and Digital Platforms



Maintain and update STEP's websites (stepscotland.co.uk, stephr.co.uk, stepproperty.co.uk, stepbusinesssupport.co.uk, corner30.co.uk).

Ensure content is current, accurate, and aligned with STEP's tone and messaging.

Optimise web content for search engines (SEO) and monitor analytics.

Paid Campaigns and Advertising



Support the setup and monitoring of paid campaigns across Google, Meta, LinkedIn, and Eventbrite.

Assist with digital billboard scheduling and creative updates.

Sell digital billboard advertising.

Analyse campaign performance and support decisions on budget allocation.

Insights and Reporting



Support the collection of marketing metrics across all channels.

Produce reports on social media, email, and website performance.

Design and contribute marketing insight to STEP's annual report and internal reviews.

Events Management



Lead project management of STEP's Events Working Group, coordinating team members to plan, deliver, and review the annual events calendar.

Organise and promote a variety of business support, networking, and showcase events.

Source and liaise with guest speakers, venues, and suppliers.

Create and manage event marketing plans across all channels (social, email, website, and press).

Work with the Property team on event logistics including registration, attendance management, and on-the-day coordination.

Track attendance data and post-event feedback to measure engagement and inform future planning.

This is a full-time role with the flexibility needed to work some early mornings, evenings and weekends.

Qualifications, Experience and Skills



Essential



Previous hands-on experience in Marketing, Events and Communications. Confident working on your own initiative as the sole member of the marketing team. Experience in using Marketing Platforms such as:
- Social Media
- Google AdWords
- Mail Chimp

Must be highly organised, efficient, and thorough, and able to coordinate multiple ongoing tasks. Meticulous attention to detail. Self-motivated, proactive, able to work independently. Enthusiasm and proactive nature for identifying solutions to problems. Good people skills and a helpful and supportive attitude. Able to work across teams and liaise confidently with colleagues at all levels. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Customer-focused. Creative and enthusiastic individual. Commitment to providing high levels of service in a customer orientated fashion. Exceptional time management and organisation skills.

Desirable



Experience in using Marketing Platforms such as:
- SurveyMonkey
- Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM
- WordPress
- Eventbrite
- Photoshop
- Canva
- Google My Business
- Google Analytics
- Microsoft Suite (Including Publisher)

Qualification in Marketing and/or University graduate (BA or BSc). Experience in writing press releases, blog posts etc. Experience in deputising and coordinating activities for Marketing Manager during periods of leave.
