The John Fisher School is seeking to appoint an exceptional
Marketing and Development Officer
to play a pivotal role in shaping the school's public profile, strengthening alumni engagement and supporting its long-term sustainability.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a thriving Catholic boys' secondary school with a proud history, a strong sense of identity and ambitious plans for the future. Working closely with the Headteacher and senior leaders, the postholder will lead on marketing, communications, alumni relations and development activity, helping to tell the school's story with clarity, creativity and conviction.
The successful candidate will take strategic ownership of the school's marketing and communications, including its website, social media presence and promotional materials, and will support key events such as Open Evenings, Sixth Form recruitment, productions and major school occasions. Alongside this, they will develop and nurture relationships with alumni and supporters, working with the John Fisher Association to build engagement, organise events and support fundraising initiatives.
We are looking for someone who combines strong digital and creative skills with excellent interpersonal abilities, sound judgement and a genuine enthusiasm for working in an educational and values-driven environment. Experience in marketing, communications, development or a related field is essential; experience within education, alumni relations or fundraising would be advantageous.

Responsibilities
Marketing & Communications
Develop and deliver an annual marketing and communications strategy aligned with school priorities
Manage and maintain the school website, ensuring content is accurate, engaging and up to date
Lead the school's social media presence, producing regular, high-quality content
Coordinate and produce marketing materials including prospectuses, brochures, newsletters, photography and video
Provide marketing support for key school events such as Open Evening, Sixth Form recruitment, productions, awards evenings and major fixtures
Act as brand guardian, ensuring consistent use of logos, colours, fonts and messaging
Work with senior leaders to prepare press releases, articles and positive media coverage
Alumni Relations
Maintain and develop the alumni database in a GDPR-compliant manner
Deliver a programme of regular alumni communications
Organise alumni events including reunions, networking events, sporting fixtures, dinners and the Remembrance Mass
Encourage alumni engagement in school life, including careers talks, mentoring and volunteering
Work closely with the John Fisher Association (JFA) and alumni groups Development & Fundraising
Support the Headteacher and Governors in strengthening relationships with distinguished alumni and potential benefactors
Support fundraising initiatives including giving programmes, capital appeals and targeted projects
Identify opportunities for sponsorship, grants and partnerships with local organisations
Produce reports and updates for donors, governors and senior leaders Monitoring & Reporting
Monitor and analyse website, social media and communications data
Provide termly reports to SLT and Governors on marketing reach, engagement and development activity
Person Specification:
Essential
Experience in marketing, communications, development or a related field
Strong written, visual and digital communication skills
Experience managing websites and social media platforms
Ability to plan and deliver projects and events to deadlines
Strong interpersonal skills and confidence engaging with a wide range of stakeholders
High level of organisation and initiative
Good understanding of data protection and GDPR
Commitment to safeguarding and to the ethos of a Catholic school
Desirable
Experience of marketing or development work in an education or not-for-profit setting
Experience of alumni relations or fundraising
Graphic design, photography or video editing skills
Experience preparing reports for senior leaders or governors

Pay: 20,457.00-21,936.00 per year
