Overview





We are seeking to appoint a dedicated, hardworking, and proactive marketing and events professional to support a wide range of activities with the Confucius Institute (CI).



With experience and expertise in marketing and events across both traditional and digital channels, you'll make insight-led decisions to identify opportunities, creating engaging content and while selecting impactful channels. This is a varied role that offers the opportunity to work on marketing and events for a multi-cultural audience, taking the initiative to liaise with the CI's internal and external collaborators and lead key projects to drive our marketing strategy.



You'll be comfortable working with minimal supervision and will establish a network of contacts across the University, as well as externally. Reporting directly to the Director of the CI you will be expected to lead the marketing and engagement activities of the CI, with responsibility for the development and implementation of the CI's marketing and communication plans.




Main duties and responsibilities



Responsible for developing and delivering marketing and communication both internally and externally in order to create and enhance a strong UoS / CI brand across all channels.

Implement a review process to monitor, measure and evaluate the effectiveness of marketing and communications activity, reporting on success and proposing improvements where necessary.

Provide specialist support to colleagues in the CI and wider relevant professional services and faculties to ensure a joined-up approach to marketing and event activity.

Lead on the creation of detailed work plans for all events for colleagues ensuring internal and external parties are capable of achieving coordinated success.

Perform detailed research to compare CI's across UK and Europe to establish best practice and drive innovation.

Oversee the organisation, promotion and delivery of virtual events.

Develop an effective internal communications plan for the CI that reaches relevant stakeholders across the University.

Write copy for a number of promotional publications and purposes, including the University and CI newsletters and support for external partnerships board meeting documentation.

Responsible for ensuring that content is up-to-date and accurate with the relevant key messages and refreshing digital and physical materials as appropriate.

Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of the latest trends in marketing and event management and issues affecting international audiences, participating in internal meetings and project groups, external networks and attending events and conferences where appropriate.

Any other duties, commensurate with the grade and remit of the post.
