The role
This role sits at the heart of Portland Training's growth mission. As Marketing Assistant, you will play a key part in amplifying our brand, creating compelling content, and driving meaningful engagement across all our marketing channels. You will help power our lead generation activity by producing social posts, emails, website content, and campaigns that attract the right audiences and encourage new learners and employers to connect with us.
Alongside delivering standout marketing activity, you will also be the friendly and proactive first point of contact for inbound enquiries. You will make sure every lead is responded to quickly, professionally, and directed to the right team, supporting a smooth customer journey from first interaction through to conversion.
In this role, you will work closely with colleagues across the business, contribute ideas that shape our marketing strategy, and play an active part in delivering campaigns that strengthen our brand and support organisational growth.
Key responsibilities
Create engaging social media content across the full mix of social channels.
Using analytics so report on social media performance and suggest improvements.
Create written content for blog posts, articles, website and other print marketing materials.
Bring ideas to the table and be a part of the marketing planning process.
Support in the design of various marketing collateral.
Be the first point of contact for all inbound leads, including phone, email, website Live chat, social media messages/comments.
Process the leads in a timely manner to enable our sales team to close them effectively.
Manage the CRM system to aid effective and timely processing of inbound leads.
Any other activities to support the marketing or sales departments.
The person
Must have
Experience of working within social media.
An eye for design with a working knowledge of Canva (or similar design software).
Excellent copywriting skills with the ability to write accurately and effectively.
Excellent time-management skills with the ability to manage a diverse workload.
Customer service skills - dealing with customers on the phone, via email, on Teams.
Excellent knowledge of the Microsoft package - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook etc.
The willingness to learn new software and technology.
Nice to have
Experience of using a CRM system
Experience of email marketing, including using email automation software
Experience of writing blog posts
Knowledge of analytical platforms, such as, Google Analytics, Facebook Insights, LinkedIn analytics etc
SEO knowledge
Basic WordPress knowledge
