Job Description


We have an exciting new role for an outstanding marketing professional. The Marketing Customer Development Officer will report to the Senior Customer Development Manager within the marketing team, and with the support of the Head of Marketing, you\'ll lead the programme of marketing activity to maximise retention and build relationships with visitors and supporters, including members and adoptors. This role is crucial to bringing to life onsite seasonal events to increase income and loyalty and contribute to the overall development of the relationship marketing programme at Chester Zoo.

We\'re looking for someone who can:

  • Use customer insight and data analytics to deliver tactical marketing campaigns to key audience groups to drive income and encourage repeat visitation.
  • Plan and execute the complete marketing campaign cycle to support onsite added value events from content generation, delivery across email and social as well as reporting and adapting campaigns to optimise response in a fast-paced environment.
  • Brief designers, provide feedback and create best in class copy writing across a range of marketing materials to ensure income opportunities.
  • Work with multiple stakeholders internally and externally including digital and creative agencies.
  • Demonstrate you have a strong digital marketing background. Take a keen interest in the attractions\' environment, have a naturally curious outlook and be continually striving to learn and grow.
  • Deliver on the promise of member benefits and increase the interest of members and adopters in other offers, events and services.

Our Requirements
  • Flexible and creative approach
  • Excellent copywriting and editing skills with the ability to produce high quality, creative and effective marketing material.
  • Proven marketing experience in a charity or consumer environment
  • Proven marketing experience in a charity or consumer environment
  • Demonstrable experience of working and liaising with external suppliers and agencies.
  • Experience of digital advertising and e-marketing techniques
  • Experience of briefing and critiquing creative and design work
  • Understanding of media buying and digital landscape
  • Results orientated, with a good understanding of consumer marketing or donor recruitment
  • Knowledge of using data and databases; especially those relating to not-for-profit sector
  • Highly competent at using MS Office programmes
  • Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills, can demonstrate an ability to develop creative solutions and make recommendations on improvements
  • Excellent copywriting and editing skills with the ability to produce high quality, creative and effective marketing material
  • Acute attention to detail
  • Organised with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritise accordingly
  • Ability to work under pressure and to deliver to deadlines
  • Good negotiation skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team, yet capable of working very well independently
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • A passion for conservation and the prevention of extinction
Although not essential, the following would be desirable:
  • Minimum 3 years working in a similar environment
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience
