Forbidden Planet International is one of the world's largest pop culture retailers, with a network of stores across the UK and a developing e-commerce presence. We specialise in comics, graphic novels, collectibles, action figures, gaming merchandise, and exclusive licensed products.

We are looking for a Marketing & Licensing Manager to drive our marketing strategy, strengthen our brand positioning, and develop our licensed product portfolio. This is a pivotal role in helping FPI grow its presence in the sector and deepen engagement with our customers.

Job Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Marketing & Licensing Manager to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and executing a brand-aligned marketing strategy that enhances customer engagement, supports sales growth, and strengthens our partnerships with licensors. This individual will need a deep understanding of pop culture, licensing dynamics, and the FPI customer base.

A key aspect of the role is ensuring FPI's tone of voice and brand messaging resonate with our audience across all channels, while also working with licensors to develop exclusive and compelling product ranges.

Key Responsibilities

Marketing & Brand Development

Develop and execute a data-driven marketing strategy across digital, social, email, and in-store channels. Ensure all marketing aligns with the FPI brand identity, tone of voice, and customer expectations. Lead on customer engagement initiatives, leveraging insights from sales and customer data. Work closely with the e-commerce stakeholders to drive digital marketing performance and customer acquisition. Manage PR, influencer partnerships, and community engagement to amplify brand reach. Oversee promotional campaigns for new product launches, exclusives, and store openings.

Licensing & Product Development

Manage relationships with key licensors to secure brand collaborations, exclusive launches and build strong product ranges. Work with internal teams to identify opportunities for licensed product development. Ensure all licensed products meet brand and licensor guidelines while being commercially viable. Monitor industry trends and competitor activity to identify growth opportunities.

Stakeholder & Team Collaboration

Work closely with store managers, buyers, and the e-commerce team to align marketing efforts with business objectives. Collaborate with suppliers and external agencies to maximise marketing impact. Provide regular performance reporting on marketing initiatives and licensing revenue

Experience

Proven experience in a marketing and/or licensing role within the pop culture, retail, or entertainment industry. Deep understanding of pop culture fans, licensed products, and Forbidden Planet's customer base. Strong grasp of digital marketing, customer engagement, and brand management. Experience in working with licensors, negotiating product deals, and ensuring brand compliance. Excellent copywriting and communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling content in the FPI brand tone of voice. Ability to interpret customer data and trends to inform marketing strategies. Strong project management skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-stakeholder environment.

Desirable Skills & Experience

Experience with influencer marketing, social media growth, and content creation. Knowledge of SEO, PPC, and e-commerce marketing strategies. Passion for comics, gaming, and collectibles or other parts of the FPI product range. Tell us what you are passionate about or collect. Also has an understanding of key industry trends.
