About the Role

As our new Journals Marketing Manager, you will develop and lead on marketing strategies to engage with our core audience of researchers. Marketing Managers will use their understanding of customer needs and market knowledge to develop and implement strategic marketing plans, with a focus on supporting journal content growth through author acquisition and retention.

This role will work across a variety of subject areas so the ability to grasp priorities quickly and effectively is key. You\xe2\x80\x99ll be using a range of channels to engage with your audience, evaluating performance and reporting results both internally and externally.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships will be key to success as a Marketing Manager when working collaboratively with key internal and external stakeholders, such as journal editors and society publishing partners. You\xe2\x80\x99ll be working closely with your own tight-knit team, but also others in our 200-person marketing department, as well as colleagues in editorial, sales, and product functions.

Responsibilities of the role will include:

  • Development of strategic marketing plans to support journal development goals
  • Communication with key stakeholders
  • Utilising journals datapoints (usage, submissions trends, discipline market data) to inform strategic target areas, including author cohorts, and inform campaign content
  • Utilising analytics to provide regular reporting and evaluation of performance against KPIs to inform future strategies.
  • Building market and audience segment knowledge
  • Strategic project work
We operate a hybrid working policy that requires a minimum of 2 days per week in the Oxford office.

About You
  • Strategic understanding of, and experience in, marketing
  • Proven understanding of, and experience in, marketing to a range of audiences
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Proven effective communication with external and external customers \xe2\x80\x93 negotiation and influencing
  • Experience in leading change
  • Experience in publishing is desirable
