Strengthening safeguarding through exceptional education partnership working...
Brent is a tremendously vibrant London borough where the iconic arch of Wembley Stadium dominates the skyline. Spanning both inner and outer London, it is a borough of huge contrasts in terms of its economic, environmental, ethnic and social make up. Brent's diversity is evident to all who visit our borough and our long history of ethnic and cultural diversity has created a place that is truly unique and valued by those who live and work here.
The council is pursuing a far-reaching transformation agenda that better meets the needs of our community so it is an exciting time to join us.
The Post
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced education safeguarding professional to join Brent's Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) as our MASH Education Lead. This new 12-month fixed term post has been created to strengthen Brent's statutory safeguarding responsibilities by ensuring high-quality, timely and expert educational input into all MASH decision-making.
Sitting at the heart of our safeguarding arrangements, you will work closely with schools, social care, early help, health and police colleagues to ensure that education information is consistently gathered, analysed and shared as part of MASH checks. You will provide specialist advice on risk and vulnerability, contribute to daily safeguarding discussions, and ensure that the educational perspective is fully considered in every case.
A key part of the role involves building and sustaining strong relationships with Brent schools, maintaining effective feedback loops following referrals, and coordinating our borough-wide Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) Network to support joined-up multi-agency practice.
You will also collaborate with the Education Welfare Service, LADO, and other specialist teams to support safeguarding responses around attendance, complex needs, exclusions, EHE, allegations against staff or volunteers, and children experiencing extra-familial harm.
This is an opportunity to make a tangible impact on outcomes for children and young people in Brent, shaping a new function that will add real value to our MASH and wider safeguarding system.
The Person
We are looking for a dynamic, confident and knowledgeable safeguarding professional who brings:

  • Qualified Teacher Status and strong experience working within an education setting.
  • A deep understanding of safeguarding legislation, thresholds and risk assessment practices.
  • The ability to analyse complex information and provide clear, balanced, evidence-based professional advice.
  • Excellent communication skills and confidence advocating the educational perspective within multi-agency discussions.
  • A commitment to partnership working, with the ability to build trust and credibility with schools and multi-agency partners.
  • Strong organisational skills, emotional intelligence and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience supporting vulnerable children and families, particularly those experiencing significant concerns such as attendance issues, exclusions, SEN, extra-familial harm, or mental health challenges.
You will be someone who is passionate about safeguarding, able to work collaboratively under pressure, and motivated by ensuring that children receive the right support at the right time.
Our Offer to You
In addition to your salary, you will also get to enjoy the following benefits:
  • 27 days annual leave plus 8 bank holidays, increasing to 31 days plus 8 bank holidays after 5 years continuous service
  • Very generous employer pension contribution
  • Flexible working hours and the opportunity to work from home 2 days per week (laptop provided)
  • A wide range of family friendly policies such as parental leave
  • Access to affordable parking nearby
  • Access to our Zipcar scheme
  • Access to our Employee Assistance programme for free confidential counselling
  • Season ticket loan for public transport
  • Cycle to work scheme and good onsite facilities
  • Access to My Brent Rewards for big brand discounts, local offers and money off for travel, cinema and shopping vouchers.
Closing Date: 15 December 2025 (23:00)
