Pembroke College is the third-oldest Cambridge college, known for its beautiful historic grounds and welcoming community. Our staff play a key role in supporting the College's work, culture and community.
We are seeking a reliable, discreet and organised Masters Lodge Housekeeper to manage all housekeeping activities within the Master's Lodge that serves as both a family home and a space for College events. The role also includes morning duties in the College Library.
You will maintain exceptionally high standards of cleanliness, manage laundry and routine cleaning schedules, and liaise with contractors, visitors and the Master's PA regarding access and household needs.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who takes pride in their work, enjoys working independently, and can adapt to a varied daily routine.
Responsibilities
Clean and maintain the College Library and Master's Lodge to a high standard
Dust, polish, clean floors, vacuum carpets and rugs
Complete all household laundry for the Lodge
Change bedding and towels as required
Clean bathrooms, cloakrooms, kitchens and living areas
Clear and wash dishes (by hand or dishwasher)
Undertake wood-floor maintenance
Manage waste and prepare bins for collection
Sweep paths around Lodge entrances and car park
Liaise with contractors, delivery drivers and window cleaners regarding access
Welcome visitors under the instruction of the Master or Master's PA
Monitor and report maintenance issues
Collect and securely store cleaning materials
Ensure Lodge security when leaving (locking doors, setting alarms)
Skills
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining high standards
Friendly, polite, reliable and punctual
Able to work independently and prioritise tasks
Flexible and adaptable to the routines of a busy household and workplace
Discreet and trustworthy when handling confidential information
Comfortable working around dogs
Experience
Previous domestic or housekeeping experience is essential
