Ontic, an aerospace industry leading provider of 'Extended Life Solutions' for Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) legacy and non-core products, has an opportunity for a Material Planning Team Lead to join our team based at our office in Bishops Cleeve, Gloucestershire to support our continued success and ambitious growth plans.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Material Planning Team Lead to oversee our material planning function and ensure seamless coordination between production, supply chain, and operations. This is a key leadership role, responsible for driving material availability, production efficiency, and overall operational performance.


You will act as the focal point for all material planning matters collaborating closely with master schedulers and internal stakeholders to align production schedules and ensure that material requirements are met on time and in full.


Lead, mentor, and develop the Material Planning team, managing workloads and supporting key business decisions affecting operational execution. Collaborate across departments to resolve material availability challenges and deliver outstanding customer satisfaction. Manage Work in Progress (WIP) levels and implement initiatives to improve WIP visibility and control. Run and maintain clear-to-builddata, presenting confidently at daily operational meetings. Develop and report planning KPIs to identify constraints and opportunities for continuous improvement. Support operations by tracking material availability, communicating issues effectively, and maintaining focus on conformance to plan (CTP). Drive process improvements within material planning, focusing on customer service, quality, cost reduction, and innovation. Provide strong line management, including appraisals, performance reviews, and resource allocation. Step in to cover material planners when needed and delegate tasks effectively within the team.

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

Degree (or equivalent) in a business or supply chain discipline, or relevant practical experience. Minimum 3 years' experience in material planning within a manufacturing environment. Minimum 3 years' experience using ERP systems, ideally Infor Visual. Strong working knowledge of MRP, Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook. Understanding of manufacturing material management principles such as bulk issue, kanbans, FIFO, and material traceability. Proven leadership skills with experience managing and developing teams. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills at all levels. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organisational abilities.
