Materials Buyer

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Buyer to join our existing team at our head office in Inchinnan. In this role, you will work in our Buying Department and report to the Senior Buyer. The ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience in a similar role.

This is a demanding role which requires someone who can work well under pressure, has excellent attention to detail, and can manage multiple tasks simultaneously. You will need to be a confident communicator who can adjust your communication style to suit different audiences and be comfortable liaising with construction site operatives.

Key Responsibilities:

Become fully competent in using the company's procurement systems for all material, plant and waste supplies. Process orders for the supply of goods and services, ensuring efficient delivery and quality as per TJL requirements. Analyse and evaluate significant purchases to achieve the best value. Monitor and manage suppliers based on TJL business requirements. Establish and maintain close working relationships with all internal departments associated with procurement, meeting the requirements and targets set by departmental managers. Identify key products and suppliers for contract formation and supply chain relationship development. Review suppliers, identifying and implementing areas of potential improvement of supply chain management to further TJL business strategies. Ensure that the buying department's organisation and methods facilitate efficient and profitable working. Maintain a customer service ethos and cooperate with all colleagues and contacts in a flexible and responsive manner to meet their needs. Meet with supplier representatives to review their performance in line with pre-established agreements. Focus on achieving added value for TJL through intelligent purchasing. Ensure the integrity and reputation of the company is upheld at all times.

Skills Required:

Experience within a similar construction buying position. Strong written and verbal communication skills. CIPS Qualification preferred but not essential. Experience using Microsoft office programs.
