Reporting to the Planning Manager, the materials controller will carry out day to day scheduling and planning of inbound materials to site which optimise commercial agreements, order cycles and stock levels to ensure full availability of materials are in place for daily and weekly production plans whilst minimising waste and unnecessary cost.
Role and Responsibilities
Carry out the planning & scheduling of all inbound materials to meet the sites operational requirements.
Optimise commercial agreements, order cycles and stock levels to ensure full availability to daily production plans are achieved whilst minimising wastage and unnecessary cost.
Generation of necessary purchase orders for all inbound materials as per site procedures.
Review and implement where applicable continuous improvements to the site scheduling process which ensure suppliers are clear on their requirements, accurate intake schedule and operational efficiency is optimised.
Review of site and suppliers' stocks on weekly and monthly basis, report on slow moving stock and write offs where appropriate.
Plan in first delivery of new items in line with site launch plan
Communication of de-listing products with suppliers and identify write offs in timely manner.
Generation of weekly inbound service level report
Escalate where appropriate any supply chain challenges affecting service level or availability to meet production requirements and work with wider supply chain team to find a successful resolution.
Main Duties
Carry out the scheduling of all inbound materials to meet the site's operational requirements along with necessary purchase orders on a weekly basis.
Manage all raw material/packaging stocks to the agreed min/max stock levels.
Introduce and Maintain supplier KPIS's to measure OTIF.
Maintain stock inventory value to the agreed parameters.
Manage daily available space in Warehouse Freezers and general storage for incoming stock.
Maintain daily delivery schedules liaising with the warehouse Manager and introduce time delivery slots.
Set up and role out an escalation process for slow moving stock.
Set up a reporting structure with suppliers who hold stock on their site, maintaining stock levels.
Working carefully according to EH&S and Quality guidelines
Any other reasonable request. Contributing ideas and participating in Continuous Improvement projects
Key Skills
Experience of production in a High-Risk Food Manufacturing business for at least 3-5 years.
Ideally some bakery experience.
Experience of working in fast paced and evolving business.
Knowledge of ERP systems
Lean manufacturing techniques Ability to carry out tasks with good attention to detail
Excellent IT skills.
Good standard of written and oral communication in English.
Ability and experience in interpreting pricing agreements / matrices with price volume breaks
Previous scheduling experience within FMCG with solid understanding of scheduling process (WGLL)
Ability to implement scheduling process and reporting on site service level, stock movement and write off reporting etc.
Supplier Relationship Management - build and maintain positive relationships with suppliers is a must!
Ability to work creatively and flexibly to overcome supply chain challenges.
Teamwork
I.T literacy with experience and solid understanding of ERP systems
