The successful candidate will be responsible for the financial management, strategic control, and operational maintenance of inventory and subcontracted services supporting the Large Engine Business (A35 and WR21 engine types).
This role ensures material availability, cost control, asset optimisation, and supplier performance while leading and developing a high-performing Materials Engineering team.

An overview of your day
Overall responsibility for leading, organising and managing the Materials Engineering Team
Maintain and ensure inventory meets operational and customer demands across the business programs
Responsible for establishing trading relationships and service level agreements with key stakeholders and sub-contractors
Interfacing with internal business units and support functions to ensure to ensure program requirements are met
Maximise business returns through strategic material allocation and identification of component repair opportunities
Identify stock upgrade opportunities and solutions for product improvement
Efficiently manage stock turnover and strategic use of material
Act as key interface with internal and external repair vendors to meet the business and customer needs
Ensure that stock and asset management activities comply with corporate and legislative guidelines
Ensure direct reports adhere to Company Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental (QHSE) standards
Hold financial and budget responsibility for inventory levels and associated costs
Contribute to the achievement of business unit budget objectives
Negotiate and manage contracts with key suppliers providing bespoke or complementary repair services, ensuring performance on cost, quality, and delivery
Identify asset acquisition opportunities and prepare business cases to support investment decisions
What we need from you
Apprenticeship or recognised Engineering or Business qualification
Relevant industry experience in materials management, engineering, business or operations
Knowledge of product and technical content relevant to the business program is advantageous
Strong business acumen with the ability to understand and manage the impact of inventory and vendors on overall business performance
High level of computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and related business systems such as Maximo and Oracle
Experience managing and leading teams
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Organised, analytical, and commercially minded, with a focus on continuous improvement
