Overview

We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Material Planner to join our supply chain team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the timely and efficient scheduling, and management of materials required for dispatch to meet our on time delivery. This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to the optimisation of supply chain operations within a dynamic organisation, utilising advanced ERP systems and negotiation skills to maintain seamless delivery workflows.

Duties

Develop and maintain accurate material plans based on customer delivery schedules, demand forecasts, and inventory levels. Utilise ERP systems such as Merlin and Microsoft Dynamics to monitor stock levels, track orders, and coordinate procurement activities. Collaborate with suppliers and logistics providers to ensure timely delivery of materials. Analyse supply chain data to identify potential bottlenecks or shortages and implement corrective actions proactively. Coordinate with internal sales teams to align material availability with delivery requirements. Maintain comprehensive records of procurement activities, inventory movements, and supplier performance. Continuously review and optimise inventory levels to reduce waste whilst meeting on time delivery. Support continuous improvement initiatives within the supply chain function.

Skills

Proficiency in ERP systems such as SAP or Microsoft Dynamics is essential. Strong understanding of supply chain management principles, logistics, and procurement processes. Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively. Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret complex data sets for decision-making purposes. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to liaise across departments and with external partners. Prior experience in a similar role within specialist distribution or logistics environments is preferred but not mandatory.
