Studying part time at Sheffield Hallam University you will work towards a BEng (Honours) in Materials Technology, this will strengthen your understanding of materials engineering principles. You will have the opportunity to learn from world class researchers and experts in their field. On this course, you'll learn everything you need to know about materials used in industry. You'll design and develop your own products, testing them in their state of the art labs.
Alongside this, in the workplace, you will engage in high level activities such as materials testing, product development, solving manufacturing issues, laboratory management and team leadership. This will typically be a 4 year programme.

During your apprenticeship you will work closely with both British Steel and our external training provider to develop your technical knowledge, practical and personal skills. The majority of your apprenticeship will be in our technical and R&D areas, working alongside our current employees to gain skills and knowledge on our live plant. You will also have a dedicated Mentor throughout your apprenticeship.
What we need to know about you
The most important thing to us is your attitude! We want passionate, hard-working and ambitious people to join our team. You must have strong communication skills, be able to work within diverse teams and embrace change. We need you to continually seek to improve the business and yourself.
We require you to be working towards, or hold a minimum of, 3 GCSEs grade C (4) or above including Maths, English and a Science. You must also have 112 UCAS points, including at least 64 points from two A levels or equivalent BTEC national qualifications or T levels. This should include mathematics or a mathematics-based subject to at least AS level.
