Qualification and Experience Required:
Technical Requirements
Welding Engineering
Development, review, and approval of Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and Procedure Qualification Records (PQR).
Deep understanding of welding processes used in subsea fabrication, including: GTAW (TIG), SMAW (Stick), GMAW (MIG/MAG), FCAW, SAW.
Knowledge of weld metallurgy, including: Heat-affected zones (HAZ), dilution effects, solidification cracking, and post-weld heat treatment (PWHT).
Experience with clad and CRA (Corrosion Resistant Alloy) welding, including overlay and dissimilar metal welds.
Familiarity with automated and orbital welding techniques for subsea applications.
Materials Engineering
Expertise in material selection for subsea environments, including: Carbon steels, stainless steels, duplex/super duplex, Inconel and other nickel-based alloys.
Understanding of corrosion mechanisms: Pitting, crevice corrosion, galvanic corrosion, hydrogen-induced cracking (HIC), and stress corrosion cracking (SCC).
Application of corrosion mitigation strategies, such as cathodic protection, coatings, and material compatibility.
Experience with material testing and qualification, including: Tensile, impact, hardness, bend, and corrosion testing (e.g., ASTM G48, NACE TM0177).
Codes, Standards & Specifications
In-depth knowledge of international standards and specifications: ASME IX, API 6A/17D, ISO 13628, DNV-ST-F101, NACE MR0175/ISO 15156, etc.
Ability to interpret and apply project-specific specifications and Company general specifications (GS).
Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) & Inspection
Familiarity with NDT methods: Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Radiographic Testing (RT), Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI), Dye Penetrant Inspection (DPI).
Interpretation of NDT results and coordination with third-party inspectors.
Oversight of inspection test plans (ITPs) and quality control documentation.
Fabrication & Installation Support
Supervision of welding activities at fabrication facilities.
Support Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs), Site Integration Tests (SITs).
Troubleshooting welding and materials issues during fabrication and installation.
Digital Tools & Documentation
Proficiency in document control systems and digital review platforms (e.g., SharePoint).
Familiarity with welding data management tools and materials traceability systems.
Project Knowledge
Familiarity with fabrication yards, welding qualification programs, and FAT/SIT activities.
Familiarity with SPS (Subsea Production Systems) hardware: trees, manifolds, wellheads, connection systems.

Missions / Service Dimensions
This service will be based in UK, Bristol with periodical mission to Singapore & Batam to cover the SPS Contract execution. Under the responsibility of the SPS Technical Lead, the service holder will be acting as a specialist and supporting the SPS Technical Lead on all technical matters related to welding and metallurgy
Support the SPS Package Lead during execution phase to ensure technical consistency, quality of delivered product.
Responsible for all welding and material issues with the SPS scope of supply.
Ensure alignment with project requirements, standards, and HSE rules.
Work closely with the Company Site Representatives and Third-Party Inspectors to ensure all welding and material aspects are of the design and fabrication are reviewed.
HSE
Lead by example in HSE performance, consistently demonstrating safe behaviors and promoting a strong safety culture across all project activities.
Ensure team competency in HSE standards, verifying that all personnel are trained and capable of applying required safety practices.
Implement and enforce HSE requirements within your scope of responsibility, ensuring compliance with project-specific and corporate safety policies.
Integrate safety engineering requirements into all technical documentation, including welding procedures, material specifications, and inspection plans.
Conduct regular safety reviews and audits, addressing findings promptly and ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
Participate in risk assessments and hazard identification workshops, contributing technical expertise to minimize risks associated with welding and material activities.
Monitor contractor and subcontractor adherence to HSE standards, intervening when necessary to prevent unsafe practices.
Promote continuous improvement in safety performance, encouraging feedback and lessons learned to enhance future operations.
