We are looking for a friendly, reliable, and efficient Cafe Assistant to join our welcoming team as maternity cover. The ideal candidate will be passionate about delivering excellent customer service while supporting the smooth daily operation of our cafe. A key part of this role involves preparing breakfasts and lunches, so experience in food preparation is essential. You'll be joining a supportive, collaborative team where professionalism and teamwork are highly valued.

Duties

Warmly welcome customers and take orders with attentiveness and professionalism Prepare and serve breakfast and lunch items, ensuring consistency and high presentation standards Serve food and beverages to customers efficiently Assist with other food preparation tasks, including assembling ingredients and basic cooking duties Maintain cleanliness and organisation across the cafe, including tables, counters, and kitchen stations Ensure full compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations Restock supplies and monitor stock levels to support smooth service Operate the cash register accurately and efficiently Support catering events or special functions as needed Work collaboratively with a friendly team to deliver a seamless customer experience.
Skills & Requirements

Experience in food preparation is essential, ideally within a cafe, restaurant, or catering environment Knowledge of food safety standards and kitchen best practices Barista experience is desirable Excellent communication skills and a friendly, customer-focused attitude Ability to work efficiently under pressure, especially during busy service periods Strong organisational skills and attention to detail Proactive and willing to learn new skills within the hospitality sector Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including weekends.
