Maternity Support Worker

Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Maternity Support Worker to work with the team throughout the acute maternity unit in Glangwili Hospital.



The role involves working alongside the team undertaking delegated duties with minimal supervision of a registered midwife and completion of core skills and competencies.



You will provide direct and indirect care to mothers and babies during their inpatient stay as well as for babies in transitional and special care areas, parents, and families.



The successful candidate will implement care and support for women and their families under the direction of a registered midwife.



Provide information and practical support to women to support feeding choices i.e. benefits of breastfeeding, safe and responsive feeding, in both the antenatal and postnatal period.



Work as part of the midwifery and wider multi-disciplinary team providing kind, compassionate, respectful person and family-integrated care to babies, parents, and families.



Assist other health professionals in the promotion of wider health issues such as advising and promoting the benefits of responsive infant feeding, safe sleeping practices, good sexual health and contraception.



The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Two integrated care centres:

Aberaeron and Cardigan in Ceredigion, and several other community settings



47 general practices (six of which are health board managed practices); dental practices (including four orthodontic); 97 community pharmacies; 43 general ophthalmic practices; and 8 ophthalmic domiciliary providers



Numerous mental health and learning disabilities services
