This role would also be suitable for an unqualified teacher who is working towards their PGCE or a candidate who has worked as a Cover Supervisor within a SEN setting.

Purpose of role

:

To develop teaching experience with a view to becoming a strong teaching practitioner responsible for the learning and achievements of all students in your subject(s) ensuring equality of opportunity for all.

This role initially begins with the gaining of experience in our school/s to then (were appropriate) move onto an Initial Teacher Training Pathway (ITT) within our school setting. The role begins with supervised support work of all students that progresses into whole class teacher practice in preparation for ITT or alternatively a continuation of practice development within our school that may not require ITT training.

(ITT training is optional of career pathways are available post experience and training).



Required skills

:

Degree is required to enrol on QTS with some teaching experience Ability to build rapport with secondary school-age students. Excellent communication and presentation skills. Demonstrable record of helping students achieve assessment test scores.

Key learnings and responsibilities

:

To maintain a thorough and up-to-date knowledge of the teaching of your subject(s) and take account of wider curriculum and pastoral developments which are relevant to your work. To plan tutorials, activities, lessons and sequences of lessons to meet students' individual learning needs. To use a range of appropriate strategies and follow schools policies for tutoring, teaching, behaviour management and classroom management To do all you can, involving parents and other agencies, to ensure that as a result of your tutoring and teaching you promote the health, safety, economic wellbeing and achievement of your students. To assess, monitor and record the progress of students in your teaching and tutorial groups and give them clear and constructive feedback. To set well-grounded expectations for students in your teaching and tutorial groups using information about prior knowledge and previous attainment, making progress as good as or better than similar students nationally. To take responsibility for your own professional development and use the outcomes to improve your tutoring and teaching and your students' learning. To make an active contribution to the policies, aspirations and plans of learners, working as part of the EdStart teaching staff

Be able to positively interact with all students and put aside prejudices and feelings in order to treat all students with respect, provide them with equal opportunities for learning and make them feel confident Be able to create a safe learning environment that is conducive to learning and enforce rules consistently and fairly Be capable of designing lesson plans to meet student needs and cover the standards Be able to adopt various teaching strategies to effectively teach the curriculum. Be able to use effective techniques of assessment to monitor students' performance and identify students' needs through assessments. Be able to regularly review the effectiveness of teaching and assessment procedures and its impact on students' progress, refining approaches where necessary responding to advice and feedback from colleagues Be responsible for improving teaching through participating fully in training and development opportunities identified by the school or as developed as an outcome of your appraisal Be capable of collaboratively working with other colleagues to build up professional network Be able to communicate with parents and all stakeholders effectively
