Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Mechanic to join our maintenance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of mobility scooters and powerchairs to ensure optimal operational performance. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a passion for technical work and problem-solving to contribute to the smooth running of our operations. The position is suitable for experienced professionals who can work well independently.

Responsibilities

Conduct routine inspections of mobility scooters/powerchairs to identify potential issues. Diagnose faults accurately using specialised tools. Carry out repairs, replacements, and preventative maintenance on mobility scooters/powerchairs. Maintain basic records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts used. Collaborate with other team members to ensure safety standards are upheld during all maintenance procedures. Installation of new parts and batteries as required. Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations and company policies. Keep the workshop area clean, organised.

Experience

Proven experience as a mechanic or in a similar technical role is preferred. Knowledge of mechanical systems and electrical components is advantageous. Familiarity with SLA and lithium batteries. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot issues efficiently. Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail in record keeping. Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Relevant qualifications such as NVQ Level 3 in Engineering Maintenance or equivalent are desirable but not essential for all applicants. This role provides an engaging environment where technical expertise is valued. The ability to refurbish mobility equipment to a high standard is essential and proven experience/capability would be considered without the NVQ.
